Construction of a Custom Wood Frame

In the sleepy New England town of Ashley Falls, Massachusetts, Paradisio's skilled craftsmen mill your mouldings from a single board or a consecutive series of hand-selected rough lumber. No veneers, dyes, or stains are used in the production of these frames.

Paradisio frames are constructed without nails, pins, screws, or mechanical fasteners. Each moulding is cut to size, and the frame glued and clamped. A "key joint" is added in every corner to provide lasting strength and to enhance the beauty. After truing and sanding the assembled frame, it is hand-finished with multiple layers of our own natural oil and wax process.

With strict attention to detail at every step, Paradisio is dedicated to providing you the finest sustainably-harvested exotic wood frames available today.

Solid Wood in the Rough

Every Paradisio frame begins as rough lumber. This piece of cherry has been passed through a jointer to create a clean, straight face and edge.

Solid Wood Mouldings

After the wood has been jointed, it passes through a planer, which brings it to final thickness. From here, the wood mouldings are custom cut to the profile a customer has selected. In this photo it is our Classic Series, D-CLA.

Solid wood mouldings are then cut to size, with mitred corners. The frame is then glued, clamped and let to dry for 24 hours.

Key Joints add Strength & Beauty

Once a frame is removed from clamps, a "key" is cut and glued into each corner. This is not only a beautiful detail, but it adds much "plain grain" glue area to the joint. Ensuring that the frame will be as beautiful tomorrow as it is today. The frame is then sanded and finished with our own natural oils and wax.
